This is probably like the first time I’m drawing for real. I thought, what better way to start drawing than to draw like my 2 favorite people on Earth. The reason why I’ve never been big on drawing was because I never thought that I was going to be any good at it. But these 2 pieces showed me that there might be something there.

I’m quite happy with how they turned out. But there’s definitely room for improvement. Baby steps I guess. Good first effort!

Victoria Beckham is from the cover of i-D Magazine and David Beckham is from the cover of WSJ.

These invites were designed for my 21st birthday. I rarely celebrate birthdays. But I thought that having a celebration every once in a while wasn’t all that bad. 22nd October 2011 brings back good memories.

I remember I was feeling rather emotional in the days that led to the 10th Anniversary of the falling of the World Trade Center. And that made me decide to do a little something for it.

Even though I don’t live in New York, I’ve always felt a connection towards that place. I just cannot believe that one man can bring about this amount of evil and destruction. I hope that eventually, everyone will be able to move on. But no one should ever forget what happened on 9/11.

This Percy Pig project was actually planned for a while back but I’ve always been a huge procrastinator and it was put on indefinite hold. Up until one fine afternoon when I was bored out of my mind.

The posters are meant to be viral and I thought it would be quite fun to put them up in a butcher/grocery shop.

This HYPE 32 cover is not the real thing. It’s only a mockup. There’s a funny story behind it.

When HYPE 32 came out, I’ve already left the magazine. So when I saw it at the shops (it was a Taylor Swift cover), naturally I felt a little upset and jealous since I was kinda the pioneer designer for the magazine.

When I got home I decided to work on my own version of the cover just to prove to myself that I still had it. The cover came out pretty well and I really quite like it. It has David Archuleta on it too. I like him!

This gummi bear farewell card was done for a friend when she left for Melbourne to study.

This was my first attempt at doing vector art and I thought it came out pretty well. Obviously I still have a long way to go but all-in-all, a good first attempt.

The theme for this photo shoot was ‘Love’ and ‘Poetry’. So I chose the famous line from a poem of Shakespeare to be the title of the spread.

Originally, us 2 designers were to pitch our ideas and only 1 will get chosen for the fashion spread in the magazine. However, the editor liked both ideas very much and decided to go with 2 fashion spreads.

While I wasn’t the credited photographer, 5 out of these 6 shots were taken by me. The reason being that I was already credited as art director and stylist. I did the casting of the models, styling, post-processing and editorial layout for the spread.

HYPE 30 is the second time I worked on the magazine. This time round, besides working on the design, I also had to contribute articles to the magazine and the local newspaper. So, we had 3 designers working on it together to even out the workload.

Because of the success with the previous Lady GaGa cover, they offered me the chance to design this cover as well. I had to do something about Johnny Depp and Alice in the Wonderland and at that time, there weren’t many promotional photos of the movie yet so I just had to make do with what I had.

The theme of this photo shoot was ‘Narcolepsy’. The shoot was carried out in Old Changi Hospital where it was supposedly haunted. I thought it was quite a nice place though.

I wasn’t the photographer for this piece but I helped out with the casting of the models, the styling and also did the post-processing and editorial layout for the spread.

HYPE is the first published magazine that I worked on. HYPE 29 was when we decided to give it a new look and feel and thus, completely overhauled its content and design.

There were 2 of us designers working on the design of this issue so we split it up evenly between the both of us. We both had to pitch ideas for the cover and I wanted this so badly I did like 50 drafts for it. I’m really proud of this final design for the cover.
